Driver CPC (kod 95) handled in Warsaw: medicals, PKZ, course, WORD test and the entry on your licence
We arrange code 95 (kod 95), Poland's Driver CPC, in Warsaw for category C, CE, D and DE drivers on Polish or foreign licences. We work out which course applies to you: 35 hours of periodic training or the 140-hour accelerated initial qualification. Then we book the medicals, obtain your PKZ, pick a training centre whose teaching language you can follow, and stay on the case until "95" is on your licence. Courses in Warsaw start at 500 PLN; our handling fee starts at 1,200 PLN.
Years behind the wheel don't decide it. Your age and the date you first got category C or D do, and the office writes the required course into your PKZ.
Periodic training: five 7-hour modules, no exam. For drivers whose code 95 is about to expire, and for those who got category C before 10 September 2009 or category D before 10 September 2008. Repeated every 5 years, either as a five-day course or as modules spread over the five years.
Accelerated initial qualification: 130 hours of theory and 10 hours of driving, followed by a test at WORD (the regional road traffic centre). For drivers who got their category after those dates and are at least 21 (C, CE) or 23 (D, DE). The usual route for anyone licensed after 2009.
The long route: 260 hours of theory and 20 hours of driving, with the same WORD test. Only needed if you want to start earlier than the accelerated course allows: C or CE from age 18; D or DE from age 20 on runs within Poland (from 18 on regular lines of up to 50 km) and from 21 on international runs.
A valid code 95 from an EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or the United Kingdom is accepted in Poland as it stands. Driver qualification certificates from Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, the US and other countries outside that list don't count: you take the course in Poland, and which one depends on the date of your category.
From the first message to "95" on your licence: periodic training usually takes 3-5 weeks, the accelerated initial qualification 2-3 months.
At the consultation (300 PLN, credited towards the service) we work out which route you're on (periodic, accelerated or full) from the category date on your licence, your age and your residence documents, and check whether your current licence has to be exchanged first.
If you live in Poland on a foreign licence, we exchange it for a Polish prawo jazdy first: sworn translation, photo, application and the 100 PLN fee. No medical is needed to exchange a valid licence; if the foreign licence has expired, you also need the medical certificate required to extend it. The office issues the Polish licence within 9 working days of receiving confirmation from the issuing country. Licences that don't follow the Vienna Convention model also need the theory test.
We book a doctor and a psychologist authorised to examine professional drivers. Both certificates go in with the application, so they come before the PKZ. They usually cost 200 PLN and 150 PLN.
We file the licence application at the office for your place of residence and collect your PKZ (profil kierowcy zawodowego, the professional driver profile). Without it a training centre can't enrol you and WORD can't book your test.
We pick a training centre from the voivode's register with a teaching language and timetable that suit you. Periodic training is five 7-hour days. The accelerated initial qualification is 140 hours, so at least 19 days of classes.
Only after initial qualification, not after periodic training. 20 basic and 10 specialist questions; you need at least 16 and 5 correct. WORD Warszawa offers the test in English, and one attempt costs 50 PLN.
We bring the office proof of the course and of the 100 PLN fee. The entry is made by reissuing the licence, so the new card arrives with "95" next to the category. It runs 5 years from the date of your qualification certificate, but never longer than your medicals.
Starting list. We adjust it once we know your route and which country issued your current licence.
Six points in the procedure where it's easy to slip if you hold a foreign licence or haven't been in Poland long. We check them before you pay for a course.
When you apply, the office checks the date you obtained each category and writes the required course into your PKZ. Category C before 10 September 2009, or D before 10 September 2008, means 35 hours of periodic training is enough, and that holds for foreign licences too. A later date means the 140-hour accelerated initial qualification, even with twenty years on the road. The gap is 105 hours and roughly 1,500 to 3,500 PLN, so pay a training centre only once the course type is in your PKZ. The office goes by the date printed on the document, so if your licence was ever reissued we prepare proof of when the category was first granted.
The PKZ is the electronic profile a training centre needs before it can enrol you and WORD needs before it can book your test. The office for your place of residence creates it within two working days and charges nothing extra for it. But the application already has to include both medical certificates, a photo and a copy of your licence, and a foreigner applying in Warsaw must have a registered address (meldunek), permanent or temporary. The classic mistake is paying for the course first. The right order is medicals and meldunek, then PKZ, then the training centre.
Nothing in the rules requires Polish, but a training centre doesn't have to teach in any other language either. Russian-language groups exist in and around Warsaw; for English we get the school's answer before you pay. The test at WORD Warszawa (ul. Odlewnicza 8) is available in Polish, English, Russian and Ukrainian. If your language isn't offered, you may bring a sworn translator at your own cost. There is no official question bank to memorise: the catalogue is not public and the system draws the questions during the test.
The "95" entry is made for 5 years from the date of your qualification certificate (świadectwo kwalifikacji zawodowej), not from the day you collect the licence. It also can't outlast your medical and psychological certificates. Bring certificates that are two years old and you get code 95 for three years, not five. After 60 the medicals last 30 months, and so does the entry. So we book fresh medicals before the course and plan periodic training 2-3 months before expiry, not earlier.
Code 95 goes either on a Polish licence or on a karta kwalifikacji kierowcy (driver qualification card). The card is for drivers who hold a foreign licence and don't qualify for a Polish one, for example because they don't live in Poland, but work for a Polish carrier. It costs 150 PLN and takes up to 30 days; non-EU licences need a sworn translation. For non-EU drivers on international freight, the carrier also obtains a świadectwo kierowcy (driver attestation) from GITD. That is a separate document, and code 95 doesn't replace it.
A valid ADR certificate lets the training centre cut the theory for the C and CE block: two of the five periodic modules, or 14 hours of the accelerated course. If you hold both C and D, one block of periodic training is enough and the entry covers every category you have. And if you're already employed by a carrier, the law makes the employer pay for your medical and psychological exams; the employer may pay for the course, but doesn't have to.
Fixed retainers. We sign a contract before any work starts so there's no "oh by the way" later.
