Recognition of Polish origin - fast track to PR and citizenship

Karta Polaka certifies belonging to the Polish Nation. The card itself doesn't grant residence, but it opens the route to permanent residence without a prior TRC and to citizenship after just 1 year of PR. We prepare for the consul or voivode: verify ancestry, gather evidence of Polish roots, get your Polish to interview level, and run the application.

Who qualifies

The card is granted for belonging to the Polish Nation - not for past Polish citizenship. Three evidentiary tiers: lineage, language, cultural ties.

Through a parent

A parent or adoptive parent of Polish nationality or holder of Karta Polaka.

Through grandparents

One grandparent of Polish nationality is enough. Most common basis: records from Galicia, Kresy, Vilnius region.

Through two great-grandparents

If no parent or grandparent was Polish, two great-grandparents of Polish nationality are enough.

Polonia activity

A separate route that needs no Polish ancestors: a certificate from a Polish or Polonia organization confirming active involvement over the last 3 years - Związek Polaków, parish schools, cultural societies.

Polish language and culture

Conversational level. The consul asks about family, holidays, history, geography.

Written declaration of belonging to the Polish Nation - voluntary self-identification.

  • One parent or one grandparent of Polish nationality is enough. If the only Poles are great-grandparents, you need two of them. Without Polish ancestors the card can be granted on a certificate from a Polish or Polonia organization confirming active involvement over the last 3 years.
